Window Smashed? What to Do Before the Glazier Arrives
Stay safe and secure the opening while help is on the way, a simple step-by-step.
First, stay safe
Keep kids and pets well clear of the area. Wear sturdy shoes and gloves if you need to move nearby. Broken glass travels further than you'd think. Don't try to push out loose shards; let the glazier handle the pane.
If it's a break-in or the glass is structural, call us straight away on 0412 584 914. We run a genuine 24/7 emergency service and can secure your property fast.
Secure the opening
Carefully sweep up loose glass and bag it. For a temporary seal against weather and intruders, tape a sheet of heavy cardboard or thick plastic over the opening from the inside. It won't be pretty, but it buys time until we board up or replace the glass, usually the same visit.
Take a couple of photos before you cover it. They help us bring the right glass and quote accurately.
What to have ready when you call
The rough size of the pane, the type of window or door, whether it's a home or business, and your suburb. With that (and a photo) we can usually give you an ETA and a price on the first call.
Frequently asked questions
Do you really answer the phone at 2am?
Yes. We're a 24/7 emergency glazier across Melbourne's East and South East. Call 0412 584 914 any hour and you'll get a real person who can help, not a call centre.
Will you board it up tonight and replace it later?
If we can't source the exact glass immediately, we'll make the area safe and secure it, then return to replace the pane, but for most common glass we can replace it in the same visit.
Is a broken window covered by insurance?
Often it is, especially after a break-in or storm. We provide a clear itemised invoice and photos you can pass to your insurer.
Got a glazing job? Talk to a real local glazier.
We're a family-owned team with 32+ years' experience. You deal with Darren Cutts and the crew, not a national call centre. Free measure & quote, 24/7 for emergencies.
